Industrial Safety in Tijuana: How a Full Plant Gets Supplied

Supplying a plant with safety equipment is not a purchase: it is a six-step process with a calendar that repeats all year.

Buying guide

One: the assessment by position

A walk through the areas with the EHS lead, recording the hazard of each position. That is where the PPE matrix NOM-017-STPS-2008 asks you to document comes from. Without this step, everything else is guessing with an invoice attached.

Two: on-site sizing

Measuring device, sample range and try-on sizes at your plant. A named list with name, payroll number and size. It is what avoids the 10 to 15 % of garments and pairs nobody wears.

Three: the itemized quote

Product, marking and freight separated; brand, model, level or class and the standard each line meets. Only then can it be compared against another proposal, and only then does it work as audit evidence.

Four: production and marking with a sample

Embroidery or screen printing with a physical piece approved before the lot runs. Nothing is produced from a screen image.

Five: delivery with per-employee acknowledgement

In-plant delivery comes with an individual acknowledgement list, which is what your safety group needs for each worker's file.

Six: the replenishment calendar

With the first cycle's consumption, replenishment and the size stock for the year's new hires are scheduled. It is the step that turns a purchase into a program that does not collapse in month four.
