Industrial Uniforms in Tijuana: How a Program Is Quoted Properly
A uniform program is judged on the second order, when it is time to replenish and the sizes no longer match.
The fabric blend decides almost everything
Cotton breathes and wrinkles; polyester resists wrinkles and holds color but runs hot. For Tijuana's climate, a blend with a good cotton share in a light weight is the balance point. Raising the weight raises durability and lowers actual summer use, and a garment left on the hanger performs no function.
Sizing by named list, not by range
"Ten smalls, forty mediums, thirty larges" always produces a surplus and a shortage. The right approach is to measure at the plant and build the list with name, payroll number and size. It costs one visit and saves 10 to 15 % of the order in garments nobody wears.
Embroidery or screen printing
Embroidery for small logos on daily-wear garments: it survives the industrial wash cycle. Screen printing for large runs, large areas and multiple inks: cost per piece collapses but there is a minimum because of screen setup. Mixing them the wrong way round is the most common mistake.
Digitizing is what you see
Embroidery looks bad because of the digitizing, not the machine. Demand a physical sample before running the full lot: it is the step that prevents rejecting 300 finished pieces. If the supplier produces without a sample, you are the one carrying the risk.
How many sets per person
Three sets is standard for daily use with weekly washing. With two, the garment wears out twice as fast and the program collapses before the year is out. The right calculation is not the garment price but the cost per employee per year.
Replenishment stock for new hires
Every plant hires during the year. If the order closes exactly on January's headcount, every March start waits for next year's order or works without a uniform. A well-built program sets aside replacement sizes from the beginning.
